The Igalamela youth Renaissance youth Dialogue 2019, funded by ActionAid/PIBCID, held at Ajaka multipurpose hall, kogi state, on October 5th had over 500 youths from 320 communities in attendance.The meeting had youth leaders from various political parties, house of Assembly member representing Igalamela/Odolu LGA, NDLEA, NAVY, NSDC, Police, the Etemahi , chairman of Igalamela/Odolu and others in attendance.
The dialogue meeting is one-off of the ActionAid/PIBCID 3 years project which is geared towards preventing violent extremism and stenthning community system and structure.
The Acting Executive Director, Halima Oiza Sadiq charged the youths and the various political youth leader to maintain peace by given peace. She added that peace is the necessity for growth and development hence no youths should present himself or herself as a tool to perpetrate violence.Mr Friday Ogezi, project Officer ActionAid also charged the youths and all participants to promote peaceful coexistence through constructive engagement with duty bearers.Paper presentation was done by Mrs Gift Omoniwa on youth develop initiative and prevention of violent extremism and also Mr Haruna Isiaka; on the role of youth in sustainable democracy and consequences of electoral violent.
The president of Igalamela youth Renaissance group, Ali Nasiru thanked all guest and participants as well welcome all esteemed guest to the historic event. He reflected on the maiden edition given records of all the achievement. School debates as well as entertainment by some local artist.Gift were presented to students who participated in the debate.
